I am very sad to inform you all that the 2011 Vegan Gathering has been cancelled.

Unfortunately Longhirst Hall/Estates have confirmed today (Friday the 13th too!), that they are closing Micklewood Park down on the 1st April 2011

We have asked them to reconsider & keep it open a little longer to cover our booking & agreed contract with them but they have refused.

Frances & I are very sad to have to cancel the event, especially after all the work & expense that has gone into organising the 2011 event.
It is a big shame as we did have alot of bookings already with alot more promised over the next month.

Thank you to all of you who have made a booking & sent your deposits & payments.
Non of the payments have yet been banked & I will shred all of the cheque sent for security.

Where does the gathering go from here?
We would hate to see this project stop & it has been a very positive event for all of us.
We have made so many great friends & its always nice to see the children make new friends & play together.
A nice community of people have come together due to the gathering & we are very proud of that.

Frances did spend alot of time earlier in the year looking at alternative venues. Most of them were quite a bit more expensive & already booked for April 2011.
At this moment I don't think we can arrange an alternative venue.

We would love the gathering to continue. If any of you know of a site in the UK that would be suitable please let us know.
If any of you would be willing to organise a gathering or help as part of a group to do so, please do let us know.

As you can imagine Frances & I are quite upset about this news but we sincerely hope the gathering can continue somehow.

Thanks to all of you for your support & input over the last few years.

We do have a new website for the gathering about to go live with lots of pictures & info of what has happened in the past. Once that is ready I will email the address out to you all.

We are pleased to announce that the 2011 NE Vegan Gathering is taking place from
SATURDAY 16TH - SATURDAY 23RD APRIL
@ Micklewood Park, Longhurst, Morpeth, Northumberland.

The North East Vegan Gathering is getting bigger & better every year.
Its a great chance for vegetarians & vegans to get together, make friends & enjoy beautiful Northumberland.

Its ideal for singles, couples & families as the included events help everyone to mix & make friends.

On site you will find a choice of comfortable accommodation in purpose-built holiday houses.
All are self-catering and can comfortably accommodate up to 10 people.
All are nicely furnished with a large fitted kitchen, dining area, lounge, bath & shower rooms.
All heating & electricity are included along with linen & towels.

Micklewood Park is a beautiful place in 70+ acres of woodland with many attractions & perfectly placed for
Northumberland’s beautiful beaches, countryside and castles such as Bamburgh, Chillingham,
Warkworth and Alnwick, where Harry Potter was filmed.

Also on site is an outdoor kids play area, games room, walking trails & gym.
Other facilities include golf clubs, tennis courts, five aside which can be booked for a fee.
There is also a couple of bars & places to eat out along with many other options locally.

If that wasn't enough we are also organising onsite events which may include:-
BBQ, workshops, pot luck lunches, local tours, talks, cookery demo,
mediation & yoga workshops, food & raw food tasting, competitions, quiz nights & more.

The 2010 event was a major success with over 100 people staying for the week
& with visitors coming in for the open day, talks & workshops.

The 2011 gathering will be bigger & better as we have 20+ houses available,
with more workshops, talks & events planned.

We have chosen this area to provide a perfect break for families & singles.
The aim of the NE Vegan Gathering is to bring people together for a green, peaceful, fun week
& to enhance & promote Veganism in the North East.

How do I make a booking?
Simply download the booking form, complete & return to us with your payment.

I am not vegan, can I still come along?
Yes. Last year many non vegans came along & really enjoyed the vegan lifestyle.
It is conditional that all attendees only eat vegan food for the week.
Help is available with buying vegan foods & recipe ideas.
We will be having plenty of pot luck meals, where we all bring along
something to share with others & learn what others eat.
Vegan foods can be ordered before the event & a list of ideas will be supplied.
The local hotel can supply vegan meals too.
We will also be running a BBQ on a few days.
This is meant to be a fun event & there is no need to stress about food.
