Christmas Social Night - Saturday 08/12/2007

Meal at Pizza Express in Gosforth, and a few drinks too. An enjoyable evening was had.

Group Meeting - Saturday 03/11/2007

Meeting at the Tyneside Cinema Coffee Rooms in Gateshead. The new discussion group, membership, Foie Gras and our position on animal rights were discussed.

AGM - Thrsday 18/10/2007

Our AGM was held at the Scrumpy Willow and the Singing Kettle organic cafe in Clayton Street, Newcastle. Some of us met up a little earlier to have a meal, and the meeting followed. Mike, our coordinator and the one who set up the group 3 years ago stood down, and Mark has taken his place.

Group Meeting - Saturday 29/09/2007

Our first meeting at the Tyneside Cinema Coffee Rooms in Gateshead. Lovely surroundings and a large quiet room made it a good place for our meeting. We plan to make this our regular Saturday morning meeting venue.

Alnwick Food Festival - Saturday & Sunday 22/09/2007 - 23/09/2007

Thanks to those who helped out on the stall.We had a great time and gave away quite a lot of info. A lot of veggies & those thinking about it showed interest in our group, but we also got a few people who wanted ideas for meal for veggie members of their family. There were a lot of cookery demos - all meat except for ones by the chocolate lady, the tea tasting and wine tasting, and also lots of stalls selling almost everything. We got a great reception and asked if we would go back next year. As a result of us being there we have been told 2 of the chefs would do veggie cookery demos next year and asked if we could provide a veggie chef ourselves next year! So now we need to think of some great ideas that we can put forward for next year to balance up the event!

Newcastle Mela - Saturday & Sunday 26/08/2007

A great time was had at the Mela. It was a nice sunny day too. Thanks very much to John for organising it and to Lorna for organising the tombola. Thanks to Paul too who was there for the duration, and everyone else who helped out. We were agreed that this was our best display EVER... and lot of leaflets and booklets were moved. Also, we had several enquiries about VegNE and people interested in having more details.

Group Meeting - Saturday 25/08/2007

Our last Saturday meeting at Almonds and Raisins, as they have now closed the cafe part of their business. At the end of the meeting we presented Penny and her colleague with potted plants and a card, as a token of our thanks for letting us meet regularly in the cafe. A sad but a nice end. Minutes to follow.

Picnic with North Tyneside Vegan Group - Sunday 29/07/2007

Another picnic with the local Vegan group on the beach at King Edwards Bay in Tynemouth. There was lots of great food being shared around and we had a game of rounders. There was even birthday cakes and playing of the 'underpants game'!

Picnic with North Tyneside Vegan Group - Sunday 01/07/2007

The annual picnic with the local Vegan group on the beach at King Edwards Bay in Tynemouth. A big thanks to Gordon for organising it. The sun did actually smile on us for most of the time but it was surprisingly fun in the rain too!

Newcastle Community Green Festival - Saturday & Sunday 09/06/2006 - 10/06/2006

A successful stall at the Green festival. We made some funds with the tombola, and recruited some new members.

Wildlife Sanctuary Visit with North Tyneside Vegan Group - Sunday 27/05/2007

We had a joint event with South Tyneside Vegan group visiting the The Sanctuary Wildlife Care Centre near Morpeth. The weather was changable, with a few short showers, but that didn't spoil an enjoyable and informative visit. A lovely end to National Vegetarian week.

National Vegetarian Week - Alternative Soles - Saturday 26/05/2007

Alternative Soles is a veggie shoe business owned by one of our members. A vegetarian evening was held in Gosforth to celebrate the end of National Vegetarian Week with wine, tea, coffee, nibbles provided. There was a display of vegetarian products from many ranges including footware and bags, toiletries & cosmetics, chocolates and sweets.

National Vegetarian Week Displays - Monday 21/05/2007 - Sunday 27/05/2007

Kris organised a display at South Shields Central library - and a great article and pic appeared in the South Shields Gazette!
